UI Pattern Factory is a resource for everyone who needs to design or develop user interfaces. It is a collection of Web design patterns, best practices, which helps you to find inspiration and design interfaces with great user experience. It is also a user interface gallery full of fresh pattern examples, and everyone is invited to add more using Flickr. You can also have your say on the library future and suggest new patterns in the forum. The goal is to create a living pattern language whose structure and content get updated collaboratively by the community.
How do I share my pattern examples?
Easy!
- First, join our public Flickr group if you haven’t already (Only group members can contribute to the group pool)
- Take a screenshot of an interesting implementation of one of our patterns, upload it to Flickr, describe it with a lot of notes and description text, tag it using the name of a pattern, and send it to the group.
- That’s it, you’re all done! The picture should show up with the pattern in the library after few minutes. If not, check you tags.
About the author
Hi my name is Janne Lammi and I’m the guy who created this site. I’ve been interested in UI design patterns since 2006 when I created a pattern library as part of my Master’s thesis project (pdf, 8.8 MB). After that I’ve been working on this public library and I finally got it online in May 2008. It is still far from complete, but I’ll do my best to make it better all the time.
I am 28, I live in Helsinki, Finland, and I’m currently working as a Usability Specialist.
My professional interests include user experience, design patterns, Web2.0, agile usability, Web design.
In my personal life I dig the feeling after running a marathon, the element of water, all the good vibes that music brings, and lots of other stuff.
